Montana Freedom Caucus' 2025 Legislative Session Update - Monday, April 28, 2025
PLEASE SHARE WIDELY
House Bill 231, this terrible bill passed the Senate thanks to the Nasty-9, it is scheduled for a Second Reading in the House after the Senate had amendments. WILL PROBABLY REQUIRE A VETO.
Here are members of the Senate fighting HB231.
SECOND READING - HOUSE - BAD - SB 535: Revise laws related to experimental treatments - Bogner (Would turn Montana into the world’s largest unregulated human medical experimentation lab)
SB 535 FOLDER Access with link – no approval required

HEADED TO GOVERNOR - HB 888: Revise local board of health rules for isolation and quarantine - Hinkle, J.
Bills to Watch
HORRIBLE - SCHEDULED FOR SECOND READING IN HOUSE TO APPROVE SENATE AMENDMENTS - HB 924: Generally revise state finance laws - Jones (Rather than returning the surplus funds to you, the taxpayer, this bill creates a slush fund for the government)
HORRIBLE - SCHEDULED FOR SECOND READING IN HOUSE TO APPROVE SENATE AMENDMENTS - HB 2: General Appropriations Act- Jones (THIS YEAR’S BUDGET IS GROWING GOVERNMENT AT A HIGH RATE)(CONCURRED IN SENATE 27-23 - THANKS NASTY-9, RETURNED TO HOUSE WITH AMENDMENTS)
BAD - RETURNED FROM ENROLLING - HB 599: Revise student data collection laws - Nikolakakos, M - (Would allow schools to conduct “mental health screenings” on students. This is an anti-parents rights bill) (NEEDS A VETO)
GOOD - HOUSE - HR 8: House resolution recognizing history of racism and bigotry within democratic party - Hinkle, C (COMMITTEE HEARING COMPLETED)
GOOD - HOUSE - HB 469: Revise the exemption for out-of-state driver's licenses - Sharp (Makes it illegal to drive in Montana with an out of state “privilege” card where they are already not required to prove they are here lawfully: an illegal in Utah could get a privilege card and drive in Montana under the current laws) (TABLED IN COMMITTEE)
No matter what you hear about HB818, Senator McKamey of the Nasty-9 is not one to be trusted. Keep the pressure on. (Below)
This is what the website is showing for the conference committee on HB818.
Rep. Nelly Nicol wrote the note below.
Want your hard-earned income tax dollars back!?!
Rep. Llew Jones says "No".
Instead, it will be used to make deals with Democrats to fund childcare and start paying some of the debit from the state employee pension fund that he's been in charge of for 20 years. (Billions in debt)
But wait... There is more!
Another bill is about to pass the governor's desk that will increase property taxes by 40% for anyone who owns a cabin, bought their grandma's house to keep it in the family, invested in a second home across the state so they can stay in it while visiting the kids etc.
But wait.... There's even more!
He's giving a one time property tax stipend up front (much less than we gave last session) to get through the next election. IF you know about it and sign up during a strict and narrow window.
Republicans that follow the Republican platform. Are still fighting hard but we are the minority.
With only 23 Republicans in the Montana Senate Republicans and about 37 in the Montana House we do not have the votes to stop this massive train wreck of a bloated budget. At last count it looks like we are almost 20% over budget from last biennium.
I sure hope the average Montanan isn't budgeting their household like this.
I've been told by these less than Republican legislators that they are better off managing your excess tax money than you are. Erm... Really!?! Tax payers and voters are NOT dumb. THEY HAVE BEEN MISLEAD!!!
Yes, this is disgusting and heartbreaking but you need to know:
Republicans are fighting hard still. We are also watching the votes so we can fund primaries and clean house.
GOP has stepped in to help strip the (R) from those who put it there to get elected during the Red Wave.
Many of our central committees and Republican women's groups have bylaws that state they can not get involved in the primaries so it is up to the grass roots groups to save the Republican party.
Does this news anger you!?!
Want to help shrink government!?!
Donate TODAY to the Montana Freedom Caucus PAC because at this point they are the biggest and best hope for any change in the primaries. The treasurer is fiscally conservative and your dollars will go directly to helping Republicans who will vote to shrink government, return your money when you've been over taxed, and maintain your freedom.
Montanans, I can't believe how blatantly we have been deceived. Our state elections are now being watched across the nation because this is happening in other states. They are cheering us on to find a way to fix this. They are cheering on our state GOP and Central committees for standing strong and delivering official centures.
We are fighting to fix this and other states are following our lead closely. We need you to stay informed and we need your help.
Pass this message along.
Please donate so we can get the word out, find real Republicans to run, and carry them across that primary victory line.
God bless us all.
Back to proudly voting as a minority Republican.
Rep. Nicol

Obituary: Montana Republican Party Legislative Session (2025
)
A Sad Final Eulogy
Service Conducted by Bill Lussenheide
With heavy but unsurprised hearts, we announce the passing of the Montana Republican Party Legislative Session of 2025, which succumbed to a painful and preventable demise on April 29, 2025.
The official cause of death has been listed as 9 aggressive cases of political cancer, known in medical journals as the "Out of Line Nine," compounded by 11 sudden and severe episodes of terminal “Not of Heaven RINO Syndrome"in the House. Efforts at resuscitation by the Freedom Caucus were valiant but ultimately no match for the spread of chronic cowardice and the devastating effects of liberal-induced brain fog.
Despite being born with good bones and a solid constitution (literally), the 2025 Session tragically lost its will to live amid betrayals, bad votes, and the kind of political acrobatics usually reserved for reality TV shows and circus clowns. The estrangement of a lost close relative known as the Montana State GOP caused the deceased much heart ache in their final days.
Survivors include the Montana Freedom Caucus, a few unbought and unbroken patriots, and the stubborn, freedom-loving citizens who still believe the words "We the People" actually mean something.
The body will lie in state at the Helena Capitol Building, where mourners, gawkers, lobbyists and political consultants will pay their respects — or collect their final checks — until the formal burial proceedings commence with the 2026 Republican Primaries.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Liberty requests heavy donations to Constitutional Freedom-loving candidates, preferably those who know the difference between a conservative principle and a RINO.
Special scorn to the sellouts, the seat-warmers, and the professional fence-sitters whose treachery and spinelessness made this obituary necessary — your "service" will never be forgotten (no matter how hard you try to rebrand next year).
May this session rest in peace — and may the spirit of actual conservatism rise again in 2026.
